Men In My Comments Section Don’t Understand Domestic Violence and It Shows

They’ve completely missed the point

An article that I published back in April has been getting a lot of attention recently. It’s called ‘Fuck The Institution Of Marriage’ which unsurprisingly got certain men a little upset.

I picked out some of my favorite comments from angry males and responded to them here. I didn’t bother to respond to most of them directly because I didn’t really see a point to it. I’m reminded of one of my favorite quotes:

“I would challenge you to a battle of the wits, but I can see that you are unarmed”

It’s pretty pointless to argue with people who aren’t even willing to try to see your perspective. I’m not even sure that they read the entire piece as they completely missed the point.

Note: all emphasis added is mine.

Commenter Number One:

This guy was incredibly condescending. He began with:

“Your article is based on personal stories of bad marriages … wow! that there are bad marriages is not news in the slightest”

Yes, I used personal stories in my article, however, that doesn’t mean my points don’t hold true.

“There is no stigma to divorce — it is as common as fleas on pooches.”

I’m pretty sure there is still a divorce stigma. Ask almost any woman who has been divorced and she’ll tell you.

“Your understandings of the origins of marriage is poor” He then proceeded to lecture me on the evolutionary and biological purposes of marriage: “This is called a big word ‘sociobiology’”.

Wow, I’m surprised that a dumb little woman like me could even type out that big of a word.

Then I received a history lecture on marriage. He ended that with “So it is not a Christian deal. That is on you do to your church exposure”.
