I Ditched My Conservative Friends in Favor of Progressive Ones

Here’s how they’re different

This summer I hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and my cardigan.

Well, not exactly, but I did take a trip to Los Angeles. It was my first time ever visiting California and I did look to my right and see the Hollywood sign!

My brother’s best friend lives there and he was going out to visit, so I invited myself along. Because, hey, it’s LA!

We stayed with my brother’s friend Cameron* and his mom Cynthia*. I had never met them before and didn’t know what to expect.

It turned out to be wonderful. They were kind, thoughtful, accommodating and really fun to be around.

It didn’t come as a surprise that, being from LA, they’re progressive and not at all religious. But it got me thinking about how different it was spending time with them versus the Conservative Christians I had been around my entire life.

So without further ado, here are several ways in which my new, lovely progressive friends are different from my former Conservative Christian friends.

Animal Lovers
